Hi there!

I am Bey, an autistic person consumed by wanderlust.

Born and raised in Venezuela, living in Canada since 2014.

After a lifetime of feeling like an outsider, a year ago I discovered I am autistic, and my life changed (for the better, mostly). Suddenly, my quirks started to make sense. That feeling of being weird and different, that I’ve carried all my life, stopped feeling like a heavy burden.

I also love to travel, near and far. I do not have a big country count (only visited 6 so far, mostly due to lack of privilege) but anytime I get, I like to drive around and visit places I have never been before (even in my own city). I am my happiest self when I travel.

Countries I have visited: Canada, Venezuela, Colombia, USA, Chile & Ecuador.

I have noticed most of the travel accounts I follow are run by neurotypical/extroverts. Which is great, I love their content and I have learned so much from them. However, when they recommend things like talking to strangers or partying all night long, I feel total disconnection.

On the other hand, I understand traveling can be an overwhelming experience for autistic folks. I do not believe I could ever be one of those go-to-every-country travelers. There are just so many unknowns and anxiety inducing situations in those journeys, and I am aware my autistic brain could not deal with that.

Hence, when I travel or just wander around, I try to be gentle with myself. Recognizing I am not the adventurous kind of traveler, but more a traveler that wants to marvel about the amazing things in the world, while feeling safe and content.

That is the reasoning behind creating this blog, a place to show how I live my wanderlust, being neurodivergent.

Welcome, and thank you for being here!
