I get excited about seeing new things, near and far.
A couple of years ago, when we were about 6 months into the pandemic and travel options were very limited, I decided that every Saturday, I would drive around my city to visit a place I have never been before. This is one of the perks of being an immigrant in a big city, the options for seeing new things are endless.
That plan did not last long. I have executive function issues associated with my autism, which makes it hard for me to follow through plans if there is a not a clear structure.
Then, this magical book appeared in my life this summer.
The 111 places is a series of books that “feature hidden places, stories, and neighborhoods that unlock the destination’s true character, history, and flavor” (https://www.111places.com/about-us) . You would not find the typical tourist destinations in these books.
Now this is a plan that I can successfully commit to!
My plan is to slowly but surely visit most of the places in the book and share my experiences. I would probably not be visiting all of them, because some might include activities that I am not comfortable doing. Safety and contentment are mandatory for my wanderlust journey.
Stay tuned for my experiences visiting these places!
In the meantime, here is a well known Toronto tourist attraction.
